Sadly Bill Moore, affectionately known as Country Buggy Bill, one of the founders of Volks Culture and all round great guy, passed away last Saturday evening. He was at home in Nowra and surrounded by family and friends.
Bill was always the dependable voice of reason, quick witted and a real pleasure to spend time with. He was a great friend.
He was always keen for another Volks adventure having travelled around the world to VW shows, Volks museums, Wolfsburg and of course having been to Lake Gairdner as a pivotal part of team Ratmuller in their successful pursuit of Volks land speed records.
Bill was known far and wide in the VW community, both locally and abroad. Some knew him for his passion and depth of knowledge of the Australian VW Country Buggy. Others knew and respected him as a keen Volks historian who had amassed an impressive collection across a life time of enthusiasm. Some just knew him as a nice guy who was generous of spirit and who looked like Santa Claus.
For years he has was one of the chief organisers behind the Blast from the Past VW show for his club, the Shoalhaven VW Club. He would always proudly show both his Country Buggy and split Westy camper.
He will be sorely missed, but his spirit will always live on.

From the South Australian VW Scene it is upsetting to hear the passing of Country Buggy Bill !!!
I meet Bill a couple of years back at DoVW in Victoria - he was very passionate about the brand and knew the ins and outs of Country Buggies and most of the owners in SA.
Bill you will be missed by all that knew / meet you and gained from your knowledge.
**RIP Country Buggy Bill**
I first contacted bill many years ago when I started restoration of my CB, KO-813. Bought a literature pack from him, best investment you could make in a CB restoration.
I had hoped to meet him at the Salt in 2013 but as I was driving up the dirt on the Thursday I passed the VW boys on their way out, and you can’t stop someone to talk on that road (they didn’t have their CB on), so sadly that was as close as I ever got.
What a great bloke he was, did so much for the CB “cause”, was a great help & support to me personally.
Although I‘ve never met him, I’ll miss him. Let’s all of us carry on the good work.

I finally had the opportunity to meet Bill in person (vs Skype) during my visit to OZ in 2012. He graciously took me into his home where I got to meet his bride Shirley, took me on walkabout in Sydney, and became a true friend in a very brief period of time. By the time this reaches you, it will be Monday and you will be saying your good byes to my friend. Please give him a 'bye for me.
God Speed Bill..............................You will be missed!
I'm very sad to hear this. I remember chatting at length with Bill a number of times about Country Buggies and Buses and aircooled VWs in general. He was a true gent. My prayers and thoughts go to his family and friends.
Vale Bill, never got to meet him but I remember that smile from last year's BFTP.
Another legend gone all too soon.
That is very sad. I only met Bill a couple of times but that was enough to know he was a great individual. My condolences to friends and family.
