Thanks to the Snake!

You may have noticed the gradual upgrades that are happening around here including the fact that we have a new logo. This is entirely thanks to Volks Culture member and creative genius, Jake the Snake (Jake Harvey). Awesome work!

We have some stickers, featuring the new logo, soon to be available. Keep an eye… Continue

Welcome Honduras!

I'd just like to formally welcome Oscar E. Guzmán to Volks Culture. He's our first member from Honduras (Central America) and is a member of the local VW Club there named "Cucaratrachas". You can check that out at: http://www.cucaratrachas.co.cc

Oscar commented on the local VW scene in Honduras, "We made a regional boom with a yearly event named "Reunión Centroamericana de… Continue

"Selectas" now linked from Volks Culture

If you find yourself getting bored we've provided links on Volks Culture to Bug Selecta, Bus Selecta, Type 3 Selecta and Porsche Selecta. You have probably seen them before, but they are always fun to go back to.

Just hold your cursor over the Photos menu above and they all appear as sub menus. I had a play and put together what I thought is a pretty cool Type 3.…

Quotes in Starting soon

After getting the run around from a few resto houses I've decided that the best thing is to restore my bus myself. I've currently got a 15 window that is in need of some love and understanding.

I wanted to avoid doing the resto myself as I don;t have the time to attend to it full time but with little commitment from local resto houses it's game on!

Just got some quotes in from Classic VW's for panels and must say that the prices are very reasonable.

Watch this… Continue

Volks Culture in Brazil

I was pleasantly surprised the other day when I was contacted by "Fusca Ativo", a Brazilian based video magazine dedicated to, you guessed it, Volkswagen. The editor, Nuno Canastra, had seen some of the Volks Culture videos on YouTube, and passed on some nice comments. After I had a look at his YouTube channel and associated blog, I realised that we both had similar goals, albeit aimed at different cultures.

As the end result of both sites is to enrich the Volks community, we have… Continue

Myself and Sez the owner of HEL70Y went for a run out to Thirlmere lakes and then to a mate's property on Monday (easter). Had a great time climbing up and down trails. Here's a sneak peak...

Camping in the T3

Even though yesterday looked crappy and grey, my kids talked me into a one nighter at Megalong Valley (Blue Mountains, NSW). Ground was wet and spongy, had to set our table and chairs on hay just to remain partially dry.

Even so, we had a good time. My daughter loves horses and this place has plenty. Have been here in dry weather before and its magnificent.

Its a full on horse… Continue

'55 11 Window "Sheep Carrier" - Finding It

After coming back from the '09 VW Jamboree over the 21st-22nd March weekend I had an itching for another project. What I wanted was an early window bus but I didn't think that was likely, especially with my budget or lack there of. My missus had taken the '67 Panel on one of her chores around town and a couple of guys wandered up, as guys often do, and admired it. Then they commented that "so and so has one of these. Talk to Mike." That was obscure and so my wife found out who she'd been… Continue

My J&S hole in the road...

This my J&S buggy called, 'Zak'. I bought him as a basket case just over 10 years back now. Familiar story where the car was left with a VW specialist and the guy never came back.

Most of the car was cactus, in fact had I been smarter it would have been easier to start with a fresh body too, but oh well. I always seem to learn the hard way. I guess because the car was so rough, I… Continue
