Creating a T64 from scratch is an expensive and time consuming process. Here is the latest photo from Bruce Cook and his crew showing the car is now resting on the chassis, windows and frames installed. Plans are to have the car ready to race in 2015 and take it to a ECTA meet in Ohio for preliminary test and tuning. And hopefully set a new 36hp Challenge Unlimited top speed record. …

VW Land Speed Racers
Great news for folks with Volkswagen air cooled powered racers has just been announced by the SCTA/BNI ( go to http://www.scta-bni.org ). Their "Classic" category of race cars that was previously open only to American cars built between 1948 and 1981 has been opened to include "Foreign Cars", and that means our Volkswagen's. I agree with your comments regarding things needing to be done in the "spirit of the challenge" and I am sure this will occur.
Sometimes there needs to be an overarching level of authority or decision making just to be sure that all parties align with the "spirit of the challenge" should the need arise.
If the event was US based then I am sure you (Burly)would be this person but in the outback of South Australia do we need to have a quasi overseer who could touch, feel and oversee any issues, questions, concerns, clarifications that may be required.?
If this was suitable then I would suggest a person like Steve Muller would fit the bill perfectly. Steve is a qualified mechanic with his own registered VW workshop. He brings 35 years personal VW experience hands on experience and a family history with VW going back 55 years. His overall knowledge of VW in Australia is boundless.
Steve has raced, rallied, motosported and pushed VW fast all his life.
There may no situation that creates a need for some level of judgement but if there was then Steve is the right sort of person to be making the call.
Burly,What are your thoughts on this proposal.?
