Caravan to the Salt
Tuesday morning we will meet at 8:30 am at BC Autoworks (Bugg Craft) and leave at 9 am for Bonneville. BC Autoworks is located in Ogden, thirtythree miles north of Salt Lake City and just a 1/2 mile west off I-15 at exit # 341. Their address is 2930 Pennsylvania Avenue and phone number is 801-321 0336. Our only other stop will be at the lakeside vista pulloff on I-80 just east of Toole. We should arrive their around 10 AM.… Continue

Speed Week - Info of Interest for VW Racers and Spectators

WHERE TO PIT
Pits open on Tuesday the 14th and I will be arriving hopefully no later than noon or 1 pm. It would be great if all of the VW racers could pit together for support and to just have a great time. The pits at the salt flats are around a mile long and the ideal place would be near the far north end, along the east side nearest the race course where we can watch the fast racers from our pits. Should you get their before me, please try to secure a LARGE area along the… Continue

- Dick and Blaine Beith and Jim Jacobsen trailered the Silver Bullet(their moniker) all the way to Bonneville from mid Cal so everyone could see this future 36hp Challenge racer even though it was only 95% complete. Engine electrical could just not be finished in time to fire and pre the engine and race but their effort allowed all of the salt flat racers, both VW and non VW to enjoy what the future will hold. Dick will have the Bullet finished for the 2011 USFRA World of Speed.
I would like to personally thank Dick Beith and his crew along all the other 27 VW drivers (in 22 VW racers, both water and air cooled, both 36hp and big block VW engined) for coming out and living the dream of racing on the Bonneville salt flats. For me, it was a memorable, and in John Moxons words, a truly historic VW event.
I am currently collating all of the World of Speed Volkswagen top speeds recorded for the 28 VW racers and hope to post them next week for everyones info.
